PRIOR SERVICE

RE-ENLIST INTO THE SF

TRY ONE CONTRACT

The “Try One” contract was created for prior service members who intend to enlist for the purpose of attending SFAS.

With this contract, you are authorized to enlist for one year, regardless of your military service obligation.  You will enlist directly into the 19th’s Special Warfare Training Detachment (SWTD).  Here you will be assessed during our monthly drill weekends to determine your readiness for SFAS.

Here you will have one year to pass the 3 day Special Forces Readiness Evaluation (SFRE) and attend Special Forces Assessment and Selection (SFAS).

By the end of the 1 year enlistment contract, if you failed to meet the SFRE requirements, attend SFAS, aren’t selected at SFAS, or quit, you can either end your contract or extend, serving an additional contract in the SF Support or another unit.

Once you have been selected at SFAS, you will be required to extend for an additional 3 years in order to attend the Special Forces Qualification Course.
